SEVENTH STATE BH COMPETITION IN A SIMULATED TRIAL ON CRIMINAL LAW STUDENTS OF THE FACULTY OF LAW OF THE UNIVERSITY OF TUZLA FOR THE FOURTH TIME ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS IN A SIMULATED TRIAL

The US Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs and United States Department of Justice through a Program of Overseas Prosecutorial Development Assistance and Training organized the Seventh State BH competition in a simulated trial on criminal law. The competition was held from 9 to 12 December 2018  at Jahorina, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The competition was attended by the students and teaching staff of the state faculties of law of the University of Sarajevo, Zenica, Banja Luka, Tuzla, Mostar and University of Džemal Bijedić.

 

 

 

SEVENTH STATE BH COMPETITION IN A SIMULATED TRIAL ON CRIMINAL LAW STUDENTS OF THE FACULTY OF LAW OF THE UNIVERSITY OF TUZLA FOR THE FOURTH TIME ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS IN A SIMULATED TRIAL

 

 



Members of the Moot Court Club ‘Universitas’ of the Faculty of Law of the University of Tuzla won the first place and for the fourth time, won the title of state champion in this field, as well as the award for the best written submission by the applicant. Participation in the aforementioned competition was preceded by intensive preparations for resolving a complex hypothetical case in the field of the fight against organized crime, based on a violation of the rights guaranteed by the European Convention on the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. Apart from the excellent knowledge of the institute of criminal and criminal procedural law, prescribed by the Laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Convention, students of this Faculty received numerous praise from the Judicial Councils for the communication and presentation skills they hold, as well as the legal logic and quality of the arguments they used in their presentations.

 

The fantastic six, represented by the Faculty of Law at the University of Tuzla, and the Moot Court 'Universitas' club at the competition included: Hasanović Azra, Kavgić Amar, Kunić Selma, Mešić Faruk, Husić Amila and Andrić Paloma, lead by Professor Dževad Mahmutović. Ms. Iveljic Maja and Smajic Almira assisted in the preparation for this competition.

 

The Faculty of Law of the University of Tuzla, two months ago, with the same team, participated in the VII Regional Moot Court competition in the simulated trial before the European Court of Human Rights, held in Bitola (Macedonia), where they won the second place. They were also the best-listed law faculty from the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a result of this year's state competition, this higher education institution has confirmed the quality of the teaching process, as well as the students who are attending this faculty, and their commitment to work and adopt new skills and competences, while strengthening existing ones through participation in various types of teaching and non-teaching activities.
