Student Days of Culture and Sports Sarajevo 2017

Student Days of Culture and Sports (SDSC) 2017 were held in July 2017, in Sarajevo. The University of Tuzla won 2nd place in the competition with 17 Universities/faculties, with about 500 participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.





Students competed in five disciplines – team sports; futsal (M), basketball (M), sand volleyball (mixed), individual sports; table tennis and chess.

Students of the University of Tuzla participated in team sports competition and won 1st place in futsal competition with 16 teams, while the team that represented the University of Tuzla in sand volleyball won the 2nd place in the competition with 24 teams.

The captain of the University of Tuzla futsal team, student of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Amir Zulić, who was also named the most valuable player of the tournament, said:
‘We won the first place again, after two consecutive finals. This was the most difficult competition so far, and I am glad that we managed to win against Tetovo in the finals and we take the cup to Tuzla. I would like to thank my team for an amazing match, who made this possible. I would like to commend the SDCS organizers and I hope that we will come back for another cup next year'.
The captain of the volleyball team, student of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Elma Karabegović said: ‘ This was a new experience, with a number of participants from the region, and I am really sad that we did not win the 1st place...The final match was quite strong,  but unfortunately the team from Osijek was more fortunate in the finals. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the organizers of the SDSC because they provided us with the necessary conditions for participation and I think that we justified everyone's trust. We'd like to give a straight A to our colleague Omersoftić for organization.’

The first place in the competition was won by Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek team, which took part in all disciplines.

Students of the University of Tuzla were led by Chairperson of the Student Parliament of the University of Tuzla, Amila Omersoftic, who said: ‘It was my honor and pleasure to lead these great people and highly disciplined and responsible players and I'm glad that we succeeded in our intentions and goals set before coming here. Our success was certainly the result of organizing students’ league at the University of Tuzla, where we selected the players representing us in the event.

Rector of the University of Tuzla, Professor Zumreta Kušljugić, PhD, expressed her full support to students' participation in the event.
