Press conference at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport for Medal Winners of the European University Sports Association Combat Championship

The Faculty of Physical Education and Sports hosted a press conference presenting the results achieved at the European University Sports Association (EUSA) Combat Championships, held in Zagreb from 30 July till 4 August 2019. 1300 competitors from 404 universities from 36 European countries participated in four martial arts: karate, taekwondo, judo and kickboxing.

 

The University of Tuzla is richer for one gold and one bronze medal. Mensur Đozic, a 3rd year student at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports, won a gold medal and became the European Student Karate Champion in the -75 kg category, and Benjamin Nurkić, a master student at the Faculty of Law won the bronze medal in the +84 kg category. Lejla Bašić from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Bakić Miralem from the Faculty of Economics also participated at the championship.

Much credit goes to their coaches, Željko Zombra, who, in addition to a successful coaching career, completed all three cycles of study at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, and Lejla Ferhatbegović Dizdarević, who graduated from the same faculty for the training of coaches in sports.

Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports, Professor Vlatko Šeparović, PhD thanked the competitors and coaches for the successful presentation of the University of Tuzla at the European Championship and wished them success at the next European Universiade which will be held in Belgrade in July 2020, where over 6000 student athletes from over 500 universities are expected to participate.
