The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Tuzla and the Department of Bosnian Language and Literature on Wednesday 19 February 2020 organized a lecture to celebrate Mother Language Day.

The right to a mother tongue was given to us by birth, and no one can take that away from us, the rich linguistic heritage in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the use and creation in the languages ​​of three nations and seventeen national minorities is more than enough reason to promote linguistic culture, diversity and multilingualism on 19 February.

 

The program was prepared by pupils from the primary schools 'Novi Grad', 'Miladije', 'Centar' 'Sjenjak', 'Lipnica', 'Kreka', 'Tušanj', 'Second Primary school Srebrenik', as well as Grammar School 'Meša Selimović, Catholic School Centre 'St. Francis'  and Behram-Begova Medresa in Tuzla.

As part of the third cycle of open lectures held at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Prof. Sibel Akova, PhD from the University of Yalova, Turkey held a lecture Bosnian Language and Bosnians in Turkey. Associate Professor Akova held a lecture in Bosnian language and showed in an interesting way how to cherish the mother language and culture when you are thousands of kilometers away from the homeland of your ancestors.
