Academy of Dramatic Arts
Tuzla, June 27, 2018

‘Theatre, for me, is a way of telling a certain story, and a mirror of reality’.

In this way professor Damir Altumbabić began his lecture entitled ‘Theatre of 20 and 21st century’.

This inspirational lecture was held as a part of 23rd SUT, and visitors of Cabare Theatre were enriched by information about evolution of Theatre in the world and region. The lecture was held for more than one hour and audience learned about interesting life stories that included stories about great men of theatre such as K.S. Stanislavski, E, Piskator, B. Breht, A. Apia, E.G. Kreg, A. Arto, J. Grotovski, E. Barba, Tadeuš Kantor, and dramaturges such as S. Beket, S. Kejn, H. Miler....

Professor Altumbabić reminded everyone about important people in our surroundings that gave significant contribution to the development of theatre such as Marina Abramović, Jožef Nađ, theorists and critics of theatre such as Ana Tasić, Radoslav Lazić, Almir Bašević, Darko Lukić, Boris Senker, Slobodan Selenić and others.

Professor Altumbabić believes that today there is nothing that the theatre did not talk about in the past.

‘Unfortunately, we live in era when Dead Theatre is more present. Peter Brooke defined concept of Dead Theatre and we live in time when society around us is deteriorating. Theatre should be involved and point out to problems in which our society is in.

Professor Altumbabić sees future of theatre in „Political Theatre“.
